Prof Anthony Leung is an Assistant Professor (Geotechnics) and the Associate Director of the Geotechnical Centrifuge Facility at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). Prior to his appointment at HKUST in 2018, Prof Leung was a Senior Lecturer and had been working in the Discipline of Civil Engineering at the University of Dundee, UK for five (5) years. His expertise is unsaturated soil mechanics, root biomechanics and soil-vegetation-structure interaction. He was a Principle Investigator of multiple research projects including those funded by the Engineering, Physics and Science Research Council (EPSRC), UK, and European Commission.
Prof Leung is active in the geotechnical research community. He is the current Editor-in-Chief of the Bulletin of the International Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE) – the governing international organization in geotechnical engineering. He is serving the Editorial Boards of international journals, including (i) Canadian Geotechnical Journal and (ii) Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) Geotechnical Engineering Journal.
