Prof Khalil Amine is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He received his PhD in Materials Science from the University of Bordeaux, France, in 1989.
Prof Amine is also a Distinguished Fellow and Director of the Advanced Lithium Battery Technology program at Argonne National Laboratory, USA. He is responsible for directing the research and development of advanced materials and battery systems for HEV, PHEV, EV, satellite, military and medical applications.
Prof Amine is one of the leading international experts in lithium ion batteries research. He has received numerous awards for his outstanding R&D achievements. He received the NAATBatt life achievement award in 2017. He was also the 2014 recipients of R&D 100 award and FMC award for outstanding research in batteries for electric vehicles. In 2013, he was awarded the US Department of Energy outstanding scientist award. In 2010, he received the Electrochemical Society battery technology award.
Prof Amine has published over 400 journal papers, filed over 160 patents.
