The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) held the installation of its fourth President Prof. Wei SHYY cum 26th Congregation (November 16) today. The University also awarded honorary doctorates to three outstanding individuals in recognition of their distinguished achievements and contributions.
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Dr. CHUNG Sze-Yuen, GBM, JP in Hong Kong today – at the age of 101. Dr. Chung was the Chairman of HKUST’s Planning Committee in its incipient stage, and the first Chairman of the Council following its establishment. HKUST conveys its deepest condolences to his family.
Prof. Philip K. T. MOK, the newly-inaugurated Associate Dean of Engineering (Undergraduate Studies), is a student-centered educator who likens teaching to raising children. Having been awarded the Teaching Excellence Appreciation Award three times by the School of Engineering during his 23-year career as a professor of Electronic and Computer Engineering, and a recipient of the Teaching Assistant Award from his alma mater the University of Toronto, Prof. Mok has good stories to tell about his passion in education.
The School of Engineering is pleased to announce the appointment of Prof. Philip K. T. MOK, Professor of the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering, to succeed Prof. TSUI Chi-Ying as the new Associate Dean of Engineering (Undergraduate Studies), with effect from October 8, 2018.

To promote healthy development of AI, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) recently established the Center for AI Research (CAiRE) – the first such center among local universities, to spearhead cross-disciplinary research in all scientific, technological, societal, business and educational aspects of AI.
